The Carnival of Krya Vrysi started in 1988, on the initiative of the Youth Association of Krya Vrysi. In 1990, the municipality of Krya Vrysi officially took over the organization. In recent years, the Carnival is organized by the Commercial Association of Krya Vrisi, with the support of the municipality of Pella.
The 2006 Carnival saw the highest number of visitors to the town of Krya Vrysi, estimated at over 50,000 visitors, while the 2024 event recorded more than 30 thematic entries and over 1,500 carnivalists.
The two-day Programme of events includes the “Carnival” Programme. It is an event for children and adults with clowns, stilt walkers, a donkey, limbo, face painting and many more surprises. In addition, activities such as the Children’s Lost Treasure Hunt, for children from 1st to 6th grade, and the Lost Treasure Hunt motivate everyone to discover the mystery prize.
On Carnival Sunday there is the big parade of floats with a delightful DJ SET in carnival rhythms, while in the afternoon the burning of the Carnival King takes place in the central square. This is followed by a romp until the early hours of the morning.
