The Municipality of Giannitsa in cooperation with the Panhellenic Union of National Resistance Fighters (PEAEAE), erected in November 2002 a monument in memory of the National Resistance fighters of the period 1941-1944. The monument was placed in Andreas Papandreou Square, in the main pedestrian street of Giannitsa. It is a bronze complex (2.40×1.30×0.50m) by the sculptor Sotos Alexiou, representing two full-face male figures of National Resistance fighters. The cluster is deployed on a vertical axis with the figures in an upright position and their palms clenched in a fist. On the base, the inscription reads:
“THE MUNICIPALITY OF YANNITSA IN MEMORY OF THE FIGHTERS OF THE NATIONAL RESISTANCE 1941-44 AGAINST THE FOREIGN OCCUPATION OF FASCISM AND NAZISM”.
